Movies

Big Hero 6 came out at the Box Office on top this weekend, followed by Gone Girl wound up in third, and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day fell to eight this week.

Movies opening this week include Foxcatcher, based on the novel Wrestling with Madness:  John Eleuthere Du Pont and the Foxcatcher Farm Murder by Tim Huddleston, which tells the story of wrestler Mark Schutlz as he trains for the 1988 Olympic games in Seoul and forms a relationship with his sponsor, millionaire John du Pont.

Also opening this week is The Homesman, which is based on the novel by the same name written by Glendon Swarthout, that shows the story of three women who are sick of pioneer life being brought across the country by Mary Bee Cuddy, along with the drifter who he employs, George Briggs.

Rosewater, based on the book Then They Came for Me by Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy, shows Bahari’s 118 day imprisonment by the Iranian forces who brutally interrogated him because they believed he was a spy. When, in reality, Bahari is a Canadian journalist.

This week, the first teaser trailer for Insurgent, the second book/move in the Divergent series by Veronica Roth, was released. The movie will be released in 2015, and I believe it will be sometime in March.

The voting has begun for characters from the Twilight series to have a short movie made about them, including Alec, Alistair, Carlisle Cullen, Aro, Alice Cullen, Jane, Emmett Cullen, Esme Cullen, and James just to name a few. Fans have the opportunity to vote for their favourite character to have one of the five movies made about them, which will focus on their stories before and after the books took place. The video also asks young women directors to apply for a chance to make one of the movies, as a way to encourage the next generation of women in the entertainment industry.

This week for Bookworm News was kinda movie heavy, as I don’t have a lot of information on television or books currently. I apologize again, and hope the information on the books turned into movies is enough for this week.
