American Sniper dropped to second this week at the Box Office, with Seventh Son coming in fourth, Paddington came in sixth, and The Imitation Game came in eighth.

Opening this week is 50 Shades of Grey, based on the book by the same name by E. L. James, which follows Literature student, Anastatia Steele when her live changes drastically after she meets Christian Grey.

The Last Five year,  based on the musical by Jason Robert Brown, tells the story of a struggling actress and her boyfriend, a novelist, and their reflections on their five year love affair.

As mentioned above, 50 Shades of Grey is being released this weekend in time for Valentines day. (It was also announced that the 50 Shades Darker and 50 Shades Freer will also be released in the coming years, much to the delight of fans.) Employees at a British hardware chain have been advised on safety and sensitivity while dealing with customers who have been inspired by the book and the movie.

Television

The Walking Dead mid season premiered this passed Sunday on AMC, and had HUGE numbers. The show averaged 15.6 million same-day viewers for the mid-season premier, similiar to earlier numbers for the earlier episodes of the season.

A Casual Vacancy, based on J.K. Rowling’s book of the same name, has had a couple of trailers released for the miniseries on BBC. In the clip below, the death of Barry’s death spreads like wild fire, and Samantha gives Miles a warning as the news of the casual vacancy gets into their home.
