Maze Runner, based on the book by the same name by James Dashner, came out as number one at the box office with an estimated $32.5 million opening weekend. Hot on the heels of this information, was the announcement that The Scorch Trails will also be turned into a movie with a release date in September, 18th 2015. The book follows the characters after they escape the maze, only to be informed that the world they knew was ruined by solar flares and a disease called The Flare.

As Maze Runner came out on top, This is where I leave you (Jonathon Tropper)came out third, If I stay (Gayle Forman) dropped to 10 and The Giver (Lois Lowry) dropped completely off the top 10 list.

An upcoming release this weekend is The Boxtrolls, which is based on the book by Alan Snow called Here Be Monsters!, which follows an orphaned boy who was raised by garbage collecting monsters and tries to save his friends from an evil exterminator.

I apologize, but this is all the current Bookworm News I have for this week. I’ve been fighting a cold, and have only been able to follow the movies this week. If you know of any places that report on book news, PLEASE share in the comments! I’m obviously lacking in information, and googling can only get me so far when I’ve only got a couple of minutes between coughing fits.
